How do I pair Connex and QB on another machine?


The web connector is tied to the user logged into the machine at time of install. You must download a pairing file and set up the web connector. You must change your company file path, if you moved the file. 

How do I download a pairing file?

Here are the steps:

  1. Login to Connex.
  2. At my connections, expand 'edit an existing connection' and select your connection, click configure.
  3. On the left, click download pairing file.
  4. Expand the tab for your version of QB; either QB Point of Sale, or all other versions.
  5. Click on the blue download link. 

What if I receive an error saying unique file and owner ID required?

Please change the file ID in the file. For more info, read this guide.

Pair QB

Here are the steps:

  1. Open your live company file.
  2. Login as Admin.
  3. Double click the pairing file.
  4. Wait about 15 - 30 seconds.
  5. If prompted, click OK.
  6. If you see a box with radio buttons, select the last one.
  7. If you see a drop down, select Admin.
  8. Click OK.
  9. In the web connector, enter your Connex password.
  10. Check auto run.

Change Company File Path

If you moved the company file, then you must change the path:

  1. Login to Connex for QuickBooks.
  2. Choose your connection. 
  3. Click configure.
  4. On the left, click on Download QWC File.
  5. When QB asks you to replace an existing app, click OK.
  6. return to Connex for QuickBooks.
  7. Choose your connection and click configure
  8. Expand the transaction tab
  9. Change your company file path to the live QB company file: 
  10. Click sync now to save the setting.
