How do I ensure that the web connector is running, if I reboot my machine?

QuickBooks must be running for the web connector to sync.

How do I ensure that QB is running?

If you open QB and click the X on the top right, QuickBooks will close. If you run the web connector, it will fail. Do not close QuickBooks. Minimize it. If you reboot your machine, QuickBooks will start in the background. If you run the web connector, it will run.

If you turn off the machine where QB is running, you must make sure it starts up when the machine is turned on. When the PC starts up, open QB. There is no need to login to the company file. 

QuickBooks can start automatically. In QB, go to edit > preferences > general. Check keep QuickBooks running for quick startups:

Can I run the web connector, if the company file is closed?

Yes, you must specify the file path on the Connex settings page.

Can I log in as Admin, while the web connector is running?

The web connector is programmed to login to QB as admin. If you login as Admin, then the web connector cannot login at the same time.

To change the user name that the web connector uses, follow these steps:

Create Full Access or Admin User

The web connector needs read and write permissions on the company file. If you already have another user with these privileges, you may skip this part.

  1. In QB, go to company > users > set up users and roles.
  2. Click new.
  3. Enter a user name and password.
  4. Choose the full access or admin role, then click add.: 

Change Web Connector User

You can tell the web connector to login as a different user name:

  1. In QB, login as Admin in single user mode.
  2. In QB, go to edit > preferences > integrated applications.
  3. Left click the row that says Connex.
  4. Click properties.
  5. Choose another user:
